In this time of my life I am more outgoing. I cherish all the moments. I endure all the pain. I appreciate all the recognitions. I take all the risk and challenges. I live until the last minute. I don’t care. I want to be myself
I make sure that I handle all the atrocities in a manly manner. If I cannot, then I ask for a small help from my peer, so minimal as much as possible, just because I don’t want anyone to bear my own burden. If no one helps me, then it’s alright, for no one is compelled to defend my worth. I love my self, but not to the point of escaping life’s worst misadventures.
I want to help others. The best way to enjoy life is to share it with a company. I am happy when I see fulfillment in my own eyes; for that fulfillment happens when I see people who are satisfied. Helping others is very fulfilling. Much more eternal if I do it voluntarily.
This is how I live my life.

Campus Lifestyle Everyone’s taking Glutathione By: Hanna Cortez and Carlo Andrew Ayson
Glutathione, in Science, is a collective term typically used to refer tripeptide L-gamma-glutamyl-L-cysteinylglycine in both its reduced and dimeric forms. But in our country where being brown is ugly and being white is close to perfection, Glutathione is the newly found solution for Filipinos who go behind the adage that white is indeed, beautiful.
Contradictory to our common knowledge, Glutathione is present in the diet in amounts usually less than 100 milligrams daily. It is widely found in all forms of life and plays an essential role in the health of organisms, particularly aerobic organisms. In animals and human beings, Glutathione’s reduced form plays vital roles in the body and helps much in catalysis, metabolism, signal, transduction, gene expression and apoptosis.
Overlooking the Science, however, Glutathione for Filipinos is simply skin whitener. But no, don’t be fooled by all advertisements and endorsements emphasizing its major side effect – yes. In fact, Glutathione has more to bring than making your skin glow in the Sun and in dark.
Not merely whitening
Much more to a whiter skin as an effect, Glutathione’s main biological functions are indispensable, from merely repairing your DNA to the regression of induced human cancer. Moreover, test from abroad reveals that the effect of glutathione strongly merits “potential anti-tumor agent in humans”. As an anti-oxidant, Glutathione suggests activities of detoxification and may have beneficial effects on sperm motility and in the protection against noise-induced hearing loss. Preliminary evidences depicts Glutathione as a useful attribute to the management of some cancers, diabetes, lung disorders, noise-induced hearing loss, male infertility and to help prevent ameliorate various toxicities. It may also have some anti-viral activity. Glutathione is an orphan drug for the treatment of cachexia, an AIDS associated disease.
However, despite manufacturing of Glutathione’s reduced form, its usage as a vitamin supplement hasn’t been well established. This is because studies show that glutathione levels do not increase following its oral administration on human being, while in fact in animals, experiments have been no problems. In addition, most studies have not observed glutathione’s circulation on the body after its intake. These therefore suggest further studies and development must take place.
Like all glitters…
But like all the food we take, more or less of Glutathione is ghastly. Because it is being taken naturally (contrary to what we know about Glutathione as some sort of supplement), its deficiency causes problems such as; troubles with coordination, cell damage, mental disorders, bursting of Red Blood Cells malfunctioning of White Blood Cells, and degeneration of Nerve Tissues. Within the cell, glutathione deficiency has been associated with a variety of condition including some forms of cancer, alcohol induced liver diseases, AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome), and worst, death.
On the brighter side, medical studies already verify prescribed Glutathione’s therapeutic uses such cure and prevention of antioxidant actions, cancer, cataracts, liver diseases and muscular degeneration. Glutathione’s biological functions go on well from recycling Vitamins C and E, blocking free radical damage, being the facilitator to the transport of amino acids and detoxification of some harmful compounds. Not considered herbal medicine, Glutathione is generally considered to be free of side-effects. However whitening in fact comes to realization just during its increased dosage. Experts even say that Glutathione intake “has been widely heralded for its importance for good health and long life. Glutathione in increased dose posts a remarkable good’ side effect such as skin whitening”.
Brown is still beautiful
Aside from our western colonizers brought about by Spaniards, Americans, and even Japanese (who are predominantly white), the persuasion of beauty enhancement endorsements, black-is-not-hot stereotypes and even media put the Filipino nation not to be proud of their original color, to the point of taking away even our own race being Filipinos.
Sociology and psychology hands being brown (or black), as a color of being “inferior”, Filipinos, having come from the nation of “kayumanggi”, are greatly affected by the “inferiority complex” that if given the choice between being white and brown, statistics always supports white will certainly be mightier. Despite the continuous discharge of pills, supplements, and enhancements to encompass a fair looking skin, isn’t it that what matters most is not the good looks but the inherent beauty we see, not on a person’s whiteness but that beauty that goes within his or her physical appearance? After all, we are still Filipinos, brown and proud.
IN YOUR FACE!
The world where I can be myself, where democracy can best be expressed, and where freedom is almost limitless. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my world.
Life - may give you struggles, might make you afflicted, may cause pain and might even push you to your worst limit.
In politics, life is a complete confusion, ambiguous explanation, messy chaos and undeniable fixation. How can you fix Life in politics? If Life could be fixed, then it would not be anymore politics.
For a Layman, Life really sucks big time. Life means kicking someone else's ass and licking someone's butt to ascend upward. But what is Life is there is no adventure? What is life without challenges and what is life, therefore, when there is no more asses to kick?
You can quote me on that, it's all mine. My point is, you will not know what LIFE means if you will not experience the Best of it all, and the WORST of it all. Life is no circle; it's a straight line, God made curves and points to make you realize that life is too plain for you just to follow. You have to stop. JUst because life is too important to take it seriously...

UE: UNDERDOG
Amazing is it that the University of the East is now considered one of the best schools in the country. It may not be leveled same as the famous Universities that we have, still the East is considered top in its own rank.
I consider my alma mater to be one of the underdogs. UE may not be the most sought after school in the land right now, but during its prime, the University was the school with the most students all over Asia, having at most 80,000 students. Who can beat that by now?
Lualhati may not have a huge impact when being told or talked about, but our force is surfacing and is indeed creating a huge mark on board and licensure exams. This is a proven fact, for UE is now considered as the best dentistry school in the country. Ask foreign students and let them concur to my sentiment.
Before, Accountancy means UE. Isn’t it that PCCBA (Philippines College of Business Administration, before it named UE), according to some jokers, means Pa-Compute-Compute-Balanse-Agad? UE unmovingly tries to live to its mark up until now.
Famous celebrities and politicians once stepped to our universities and now proved a new spot in the showbiz and politics world. Look where Michael V, Joey De Leon and PBB winner Nene Tamayo are right now- in pure limelight. I’m not that sure if I’m going to count in Virgilio Garciliano and Jovito Palparan the recipients as well to my “I’m proud of UE because they came here” citation. But the Honorable mayor Alfredo Lim will surely count in.
Not only in academics had UE excelled, but also in extra curriculums, primarily in sports. Two decades ago, Red Warriors was the king of UAAP almost every year. Not only in basketball you can see that red painted which signals victory, but in other events as well.
If why can’t it be on the same ground as the most famous Universities that we have right now, former president Diosdado Macapagal already had given an answer during one of his speech, where he called our school “the school for the masses”.
A slap on the face to everyone who will say they are not proud of Lualhati. Its history, its student’s achievement and non-curricular feats will long enough be a proof of why the University of the East can be considered the “Best School” in the whole nation.
